The Maxwell Dance Workshop
has been sharing powerful messages since 1989!
In EVERY school that we perform in, teachers and administrators ALWAYS
comment that it is the most effective program they have ever brought to their
students.
Our presentations are very flexible and can be adapted to suit the needs
of hosting community.
If you are interested in booking the Workshop, please contact our

Below is some additional information that will assist in getting the
most out of a Workshop visit.
Performance
Details
Appropriate Age Levels
The Workshop performs for elementary schools, middle schools, high
schools, colleges, Universities, community centres and public and private
venues. The program is selected in
consultation with administrators and organizers.
How long is a performance?
Our program usually runs between 45 to 70 minutes. Since the dances are done as vignettes, the
length of the performance can be adjusted to suit then time constraints of time
and the needs of the community.
Number of performances per
day?
We can do up to three performances in one day. However, we need a minimum of 45 minutes to
set up sound and lights and 30 minutes to take down, plus our travel time
between venues.
Performance Requirements
A 20' X 20' space, plus what ever is needed to accommodate the
audience. We are self-contained and have
our own lights and sound equipment. We
also need a change area. More Details
about performance requirements.
Costs
In order to assist with the costs of running the Dance Workshop program,
we request that hosting schools or communities provide an honorarium or
donation; However, we do not wish financial restrictions to prohibit us from
performing in any location. Suggested
guidelines for such contributions may be discussed with the Workshop
Coordinator.
Public Performances
Although public and private schools are the most effective means of
reaching greater numbers of young people, performances in malls, community
centres and local theatres can be very successful.
In order for the public to attend, they have to be informed and excited
about the event. There is a sample press
release, posters and flyers that can be printed off. If we don't have time for distribution when
we get there, you may want to turn the job of "getting the word out"
over to the youth in your community. Also, invite other local organizations
such as multicultural clubs, scouting troops, environmental groups, drug
awareness and women's organizations.
Local News Papers, TV and
Radio
Contact your local newspaper, TV and radio stations. Tell them that a
group of young people are traveling with the goal of reaching out to other youth. Share
our mission statement with them, which is...
To use emotionally captivating, dramatic dance presentations to
- provide tools for
confronting drugs, racism, abuse and violence
- promote the
elimination of all prejudices
- inspire positive
personal and social change
- enhance
understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.
Arrange for interviews prior to our arrival so they can be part of our
schedule,
Invite TV and News reporters to the performances.
Follow Up
After public performances it is always nice to create an atmosphere
conducive to fellowship.
